Muay Thai

About:

Our club better known as Flinders University Muay Thai Club was founded in 1980 by Alan Wong who was studying Mathematics/Computer Science. Alan is still the Head Instructor of the Club after 41 years.

The club’s mission statement is ” to provide a safe and friendly environment where all members can achieve their goals regardless of age, gender or experience. Flinders Muay Thai provides the highest standard of training possible with a focus on physical fitness and mental discipline whilst ensuring all members enjoy the training provided”.

Alan continues to provide this service as he passionately believes that physical fitness and mental discipline helped him succeed in his study and general life.  Muay Thai is a martial art different to Karate and Tae Kwon-Do. We train hard concentrating on striking techniques and it is a great way to get fit and learn self-defence. The majority of our members train mainly for fitness, with a few training to compete. Over the years we have produces 3 world champions. The most famous world champion is Paul Slowinski who held 4 world titles in 4 different weight divisions. We have been and still remain as the premier Muay Thai Club in Australia.
